Walking Netball

New to MNA

What is Walking Netball? Walking Netball is a slower version of netball, played at a walking pace. The game has been designed so anyone can play, regardless of age, ability, or fitness level.

Benefits of Walking Netball
The game provides players benefits including improved strength, flexibility and circulation - along with long-term fitness and weight maintenance benefits.
Walking Netball develops team spirit and encourages social interaction. It is a great way to make friends or even spend time with old friends on a regular basis.

Match Day
An essential start is a warm-up session. During the warm-up, teams are formed and players are bibbed. Gameplay can be adjusted to accommodate individual needs such as long-term injuries or health issues.
The warm-up is followed by a game that consist of 4 quarters with breaks between quarters. Throughout the game there may be rolling substitutions.

Walking Netball players are very welcome to stay for a chat after the game.

Terms and Conditions

Terms and Conditions

  • Registration: Players must be registered on MNA Website to be able to participate in our competitions.  Fees must be paid in full & online to MNA and Netball Qld prior to taking the courts to ensure you are covered for insurance.
  • Location: Hosted at the Bassett Park Netball Precinct, corner of Northern Rd and Bassett Lane, Roma.
  • What to Wear: Walking Netball players will not have an official uniform. Players are welcome to wear comfortable exercise clothes. We are encouraging players to wear black or white clothes as the team bibs will define the two teams for the umpires. Bibs are yellow, red, blue and green.
  • Fingernails must be trimmed short or netball gloves worn. All jewellery is to be removed before playing. These safety rules are to protect you and your fellow players.
  • Umpiring: When sitting off for a quarter, everyone may have a go at umpiring using a squistle. We know without this important roll filled we wouldn’t have such a fluid game. Players are likely to already know the rules so the main focus here until we get used to it will be pulling up players running or jumping and hand the ball over to the opposition for a free pass.
  • Mixed Netball: A maximum of 3 males can be on the court for a team at any one time.
  • Male players are to be spread in each area of the court, for example 1 player each in mid court, goals and defence).
  • Player Behaviour: All participants taking part in the competition are required to act in accordance with the National Codes of Behaviour published as part of the Netball Australia Members Protection Policy as amended from time to time.
  • Players must conduct themselves in a respectful manner towards their teammates, the opposition, and officials. Unsportsmanlike behaviour such as rough or forceful contact, derogatory language towards players or officials and intimidation will not be tolerated. Individuals may be removed or banned from playing/spectating netball under Maranoa Netball Association affiliation.
  • Social: It's a great way to stay active with minimal risk of injury and have fun!  Walking Netball is a friendly social sport that is focused on improving the physical and mental well-being of all participants.
